rosemary mint’s poetry word prompt

Lyrics for the Fey Princess

spine cloaked in
Spanish moss
and birch bark
bound
in an autumn
ginko leaf
a single daisy petal
pressed between
sweet red clover pages
a hidden pause
where
scribed in
spice and
mushroom spores

lean in close
read
a secret rabbit verse

  4. Heaven says:

Lovely and vivid images …I specially like:

    ginko leaf
    a single daisy petal
    pressed between
    sweet red clover pages

      Heaven,
Thank you for visiting and sharing this with me. Vivid imagery seems easier when writing about things we love. Happy to have shared these with you.

  5. Shawna says:

    I love the word “fey.”

This line is so beautiful; it almost makes being bound bearable: “bound in an autumn ginko leaf”

Love the visual of a tiny white petal almost buried in all that red. That poetry must smell yummy, written in spice and mushroom spore! Wow. You have created some powerful imagery here.

Making the last three lines “lean in” was a clever and effective touch.

I think the first two words probably say the most: “spine cloaked.” It’s there. It might be quite strong, or perhaps weak. We don’t know what she’s made of because she’s so covered in beauty and nature. And all the layers to her wrap! Moss, bark, and leaf. She is very tightly bound. She probably doesn’t even remember what her spine looks like. 🙂

I doubt she would like the song you just wrote for her, calling her spineless and all. LOL.

  6. Brendan says:

How to name the unfolding presence of the self in words of the world? Like this. So delicately, with surprises under every layer. – Brendan

      Brendan,
🙂 I realize it is a bit self-indulgent, but this rabbit’s story is a piece of my own, no doubt. Thank you for your comment. It was lovely and heartening.

  7. hobgoblin2011 says:

really nice imagination here, love the use of nature and how the act of scribing is just a word amongst the many images throughout, yet a big piece of the poem nonetheless. Find piece. really enjoyed it. Thanks

    • Yousei Hime says:

      hobgoblin2011,
Welcome and thank you so much for your kind comment. This was an enjoyable poem to write. Because writing is as important to me as eating or sleeping, it’s no surprise it rooted the poem. I’m very happy to share it with you.

  8. claudia says:

this is lovely…like it all…the mushroom spores, the single daisy petal between red clover pages…nice…

  9. Maria Tatham says:

The total impression of your poem with the image of the rabbit scribing, in the setting of your website is wonderful.

  10. yoga-adan says:

    such nice rhythm –

    “birch bark
    bound
    in an autumn”

  11. slpmartin says:

Had to smile and chuckle just a bit as I read the last lines of the poem…very delightful imagery.

  12. brian miller says:

nice…great visuals…but i absolutely love the break away verse at the end…i am listening…smiles.

    • Yousei Hime says:

      brian,
I’m glad you caught that. I wanted to format it a little different than that, but still haven’t figured out all my formatting options on WP. I really had fun with this one. Always love delving into fantasy, my favorite place to be.

  13. Raven says:

What wonderful words … what a beautiful rabbit!
