National Poetry Month — Because You Asked

time is limited
but I don’t care
I’ll take it all
your breath
your nibbles
your kisses
your warmthImage
your company
every day
until the end
with smiles

I love you, little poem. 🙂 Some creatures manufacture time and comfort out of air. I’m not a dog person, but that’s how I feel when I go to bed with my toddler.

    • Shawna says:

P.S. I do know this poem is for me. 😉

    • Yousei Hime says:

      Shawna,
I know what you mean. I was absolutely in-love with my first born for the first few years. I sang, read, talked, played … everything with the little cutie. Now of course, he drives my crazy. They are both bundles of wonderful and talent tainted with teenage pigheadedness, arrogance, and know-it-all-alreadiness. Love them both but sighing a lot these days. Glad I could send you a couple of smiles in words.

      • Shawna says:

I have a 9-year-old and a 4-year-old, so I do a lot of sighing as well. But the 2-year-old is still mostly sweet. 🙂

  2. Luke Prater says:

tender and touching, probably the opposite of my latest post 🙂 For some reason I keep reading ‘nibbles’ as ‘nipples’… go figure…

    • Yousei Hime says:

      Luke,
😀 Well, I’ll definitely have to go read your latest now. Ironically, he’s nibbling on nipples only at this point (not quite two weeks old). Thanks for sharing this with me.

      • Luke Prater says:

I love those unspoken word associations that sometimes we intend, others they just seem to fall into our lap through sheer serendipity; the loom of language is immense. And every reader gets a different perspective

        • Yousei Hime says:

          Luke,
I know exactly what you mean. Those are a part of what makes writing magical and enjoyable. For me, the reader is the secret ingredient to a written spell that is different every time it is cast. Thanks for helping stir the cauldron here.

  3. Thomas Davis says:

This made me smile big time.

  4. slpmartin says:

Oh now this is so sweet…just lovely for a Sunday morning…thanks!

  5. angie werren says:

I bought myself a puppy in february, my very own since I was a kid. it’s wonderful. 🙂

    • Yousei Hime says:

      angie,
Wonderful. 🙂 They can be a comfort and a joy. What did you get?

      • angie werren says:

he’s a rescue — looks like he’s yorkie but we don’t know for sure. just had his last check-up/ shots and he’s doing great! 🙂 what kind is yours?

        • angie werren says:

          ahh — I see now he’s a boxer. great dogs! 😀

          • Yousei Hime says:

            angie,
Yorkie’s are probably the only small dogs I like. Most I find yippy and annoying. They tend to be sweet, and of course they’re adorable. Yes, I love boxers. Other than the drool and short lifespan, they are excellent dogs. I’m really looking forward to getting him. Sometime in June. 😀

            • angie werren says:

his coming to me was a complete accident. I was feeling sorry for myself on a cold, rainy day (right after valentine’s) and just randomly stopped in the animal shelter after work. they put him in my hands and I never put him down! 😀 I’ve never had a little dog — our family dogs were all DOGS — a white lab, a bouvier (oh, how we loved that boy!!) and the last *family* dog (I have her…) is another rescue (german shepherd/ beagle). I had no plans for a puppy and everyone thinks I’ve lost my mind (since I’m on my own now) — but he’s wonderful. fills up the house with ‘baby’ energy again. 😉

            • Yousei Hime says:

              angie,
Ah…baby energy. I both look forward to it and dread it. I’ve become rather sedentary, so part of my motivation for getting a pup is to get moving. Perhaps all that energy will help me overcome my inertia. 😉

            • angie werren says:

it certainly helps get you out of bed at 5:30 am on a sunday…
              😀

  6. brian miller says:

what a cute pups…so you are getting one…that will def be fun…they are so loveable….

    • Yousei Hime says:

      brian,
They are cute. My cousin offered me a pick from seven. There were two fawns (that’s what my first boxer was), two white (which I was sorely tempted by), two brindle, and this seal. I’d never seen one and uniqueness won. I daydream about him all the time now. 😉

  7. sanjuktaa says:

Very very cute! Hope you find him!

  8. Raven says:

    ‘Tis sweetness itself.

If you leave tracks, I'll find you.
