Monday Melting Poem Week 10

Recipe:  rosemary mint cake with carob rabbit icing

For the sauce:
Hack up:
one carob rabbit

Then in a haiku pot over a catching fire*:
melt rabbit, slowly adding seven of drops of lemonade luck,
stirring carefully until just disturbed.
Keep warm.

For the cake:
Sift together:
one root chained
whole bottle of extracted almond moon waiting

Add:
two cracked lingering specters
four drops of violet hair color
two and half cups of empusan curves inverted
(the sweetest you can find)

When well blended, pour into a cauldron, side dishes of the mind,
or grandmother’s bundt cake pan

Chocolate Bundt cake frosted with coconut

Bake a well-versed poetry oven or Easy Bake
until golden brown and barely writhing.

Consume it however you want:
Let it cool, turn it out on a woman’s dressing table and drizzle with icing…
Scoop it straight from the pan into a bowl with rabbit sauce and cherry blossom ice cream…
or use your wonderful, delicious imagination…

Just don’t forget to lick your fingers.

  1. Delicious. As many others commented, it’s clear that you had a lot of fun writing this, which makes it fun to read. I’m still discovering all the writers and their blogs associated with Red Wolf Poems, and am so happy to find yours—wonderful poem, makes me itch to write something inspired by it–and visually beautiful blog–are these rabbit sketches in the frame your artwork, too?

      puffofsmokepoems,
Welcome. I am delighted to meet you as you journey around Red Wolf Poems blogs. This was indeed a fun poem to write. Rereading it reminds me that I need to have more fun with my writing whenever possible. I wish I could claim the rabbit art, but no, neither are mine. I cannot locate my file which tells me who did the border art–it is probably Hokusai, Hiroshige or kimono art. It might be another artist whose name I am less familiar with. The banner art is by Leslie White. You can find a link to her blog in my blogroll. She very generously painted the art, and my blog has been transformed into home ever since. Thank you for visiting and commenting. I look forward to reading your writing.

      Viv,
I remember that I had so much fun writing it. Most of my writing is my serious in tone, so opportunities like this are that much more enjoyable. Thank you for stopping in to read.

  2. Then in a haiku pot over a catching fire*:.. Oh, I wish I had a Haiku pot! This is wonderful, imaginative and soooo much fun.

  3. Brilliant!! What a fun way to bring a poem to life!!

I love this, “bottle of extracted almond moon waiting”

and many other lines as well!! Thank you for sharing such a wonderful example, Tawnya!!

    • Yousei Hime says:

      Shawna,
Shameless. That’s what you are. You knew I had to write if you mentioned me in your post. Clever, clever girl. Hey! Is that a picture of us on your blog? (I wish.)

      • Shawna says:

        It is totally us. 🙂

You really don’t have to write if you don’t have time. I was just afraid people might have missed it since it was kind of late in the week when you posted it. (I think. My days blur together sometimes. LOL.)

        • Yousei Hime says:

Of course your days are a blur. I think you’ve written more crammed into last week than any other week. I could be wrong, but that’s what it felt like when I checked my email updates. 😉 I’m writing as I reply. Your cuteness wins (and I’m not that busy at the moment).

  6. CiCi says:

How do you think up thoughts like these? Truly magical.

    • Yousei Hime says:

      CiCi,
I was using a given list of words this time. The words didn’t seem obviously connected, and I wanted to do something different form-wise. I guess carob and the fact that I’m dieting triggered the recipe idea. 😉 It was fun, that was the main thing. Glad you liked it. Thanks for visiting. 😀

Sounds delicious 🙂 enjoyed it 🙂

  9. Shawna says:

Just swinging by to look for a new poem. 😉

  10. Raven says:

My God this is incredible! There are elements to your writing that remind me of another here in “our” blogosphere … someone for who’s writing I “also” have the utmost respect, the highest regard and an understanding of an extremely unique imagination … and that would be Claudia over at dVerse Poets. Super piece of writing young lady!

    • Yousei Hime says:

      Raven,
If this reminds you of Claudia, I am very honored. I love her writing. She usually has so many comments on it there is nothing left to say by the time I get there. Thank you for the compliment. I’m glad you liked it for it was meant to be enjoyed.

  11. daveserjeant says:

Yum! Deliciously surreal and seasoned with humour. Like it a lot…

    “barely writhing”
    🙂

  12. Jennifer Worrell says:

LOVE THIS POEM!!! WITTY and FUN!!!

  13. This was totally enjoyable, Yousei.

    Pamela

  14. greetings! to the disturbed women.. aren’t we all.. 🙂 lovely, fun post.. beautiful imagery.. except the hacking bit.. I am gooey about hacking!

  15. moondustwriter says:

colorful and creative are you both
    bake poetry til you burst!!!

  16. kaykuala says:

Hilarious! You left out the eager beavers who are being served. They must have booked 1 year in advance or they get to sit in the kitchen and help with the dishes. Those who could come in their wedding dress would get huge discounts. Hilarious LOL!

    Hank

  17. Any recipe that begins with hacking sounds like loads of fun to experiment with though I may have to make some substitutions as our store is not stocked by someone with your imagination!

  18. claudia says:

hmmmm…cherry blossom icecream….sounds delicious…and the violet hair color cracked me up…such a fun recipe…may have to try it one day..smiles

  19. slpmartin says:

Oh…my…now this is a recipe for the ages. 🙂

  20. Jeannie says:

    LOL! I loved it!!

  21. Shawna says:

Oh girl, I am laughing SOOOOO hard over this! You are a riot and so very clever and adorably precious. 🙂 We do make a deliciously sweet mixture, don’t we?

I love this: “stirring carefully until just disturbed” … Since we are disturbed to begin with, I doubt it will take much stirring.

“two cracked lingering specters” … That’s us! And we should totally dye our hair violet to make our husbands think we have totally gone over the edge.

“or grandmother’s bundt cake pan” … Hilarious!

    • Yousei Hime says:

      Shawna,
If you’re laughing, then the poem’s a success. It was fun to write, and it finally helped me figure out how I wanted to structure my other poem, at least I think I’ve got it. Let’s hear it for disturbed women! We’re definitely more fun and colorful.

    • Luke Prater says:

It’s for YOU! hehe it’s great…. so you two have some kind of exclusive club now, huh?

      • Yousei Hime says:

        Luke Prater,
😉 Nah. I had a dozen snappy comebacks to your comment, but not an once of courage to use them. Shawna is a friend made through blogging, very supportive and kicks me into writing her prompts. However, if you want to start a cake club with me, I’ll stomach that with pleasure. Thanks for stopping by and eating a slice. The crumbs you left were full of chuckles.

      • Shawna says:

I was going to say yes … but it’s not exclusive. You can write me poems or recipes too, if you’d like. 🙂 Goodness, I even provide some of the words!

        Isn’t she fun?
