cannot decide which
is more beautiful . . . blossoms
or my smiling son
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
From time to time a Freshly Pressed blog catches my eye. This week it was the Quirky Japan Blog. The author explained how to recognize the difference between cherry and plum blossoms, and the post included some amazing photos. Now I’m definitely going to pester my husband for some cherry and plum trees. Please visit there and enjoy the view.
Poem and link – beautiful.
In London (where I no longer live, I am pleased to say, but not for any reasons to do with blossoms) there is another way to tell which is plum and which is cherry. Cherry trees are mostly in the street or in front gardens. Plum trees are mostly in back gardens!
😉
absurdoldbird,
Thank you for visiting and leaving such an interesting comment. Makes me wonder why. Was it to keep the fruit away from passers-by? So you’re out of London . . . into the country? That’s what we did a few years ago, though we didn’t move from anywhere as posh as London. Thanks again for stopping by. 🙂
Don’t have kids, but I’m betting the son will win every time. I am anxiously awaiting the Cherry Blossom season here in NY. They are my favorite trees when they are in bloom.

Thanks for stopping in. We have what my husband calls wild cherry trees, but I find them rather ugly compared to the lovely Japanese blossoming trees. I hope to take pictures of our apple and pear trees though. Should be soon. 🙂
This is so sweet and beautiful!
laurenmichelleotheim,
Welcome back. Glad you liked the cherry and plum blossom post. Thank you for your comment.

laurenmichelleotheim,
Don’t worry about it. I’ve been busy too. Glad to have you back.
i know u can decide tho. another good one!
rdl,
😀 Most days it’s easy to decide. There are the occasional days . . . 😉
Beautiful! A smiling son is a rare sight indeed, especially as they enter the teen years…*sniff* I repeat, beautiful!
Roxie,
I’ve had a few teen smiles lately, but they’ve been few. This was actually written in response to the photos on the linked site. If you didn’t peek at them, you should. Glad to see you here.
Okay. You made me cry. Amazing. Thanks for this beauty and all the gratitude, sweetness it brings! Big Hugs and Cheers and Namaste. 🙂
Blissbeam,
Glad you liked it. Hope you had a great weekend.
There is nothing that compares to the beauty of a smiling child..lovely verse.
slpmartin,
🙂 Thank you. Hope you checked out the photos too.
awe well no comparison dear has to be your baby xxx
William,
🙂 Thanks. I happen to agree most days. Thanks for visiting.
By the way can you please please please email me links to all legitimate online writing contests you can think off, I want something that’ll help keep me busy because I tell you girl these sleepless nights are just dull ha ha. I prefer the contests where you write for fun not for prizes, like that one over at David’s blog!

I’ll see what I can do. I don’t know about many, but I’ll look around for you. Keep asking me about it so I don’t forget.
How sweet, I’m picturing your son and I bet he’s got the most joyful perfect smile… I spent the whole day with my nephew, we cuddled up and watched animated movies on my phone till we both fell a few minutes ago, it was funny but it’s late and he’s gone to sleep.
SeraphSili,
Thank you for sharing that about you and your nephew. Sounds like a very precious time. 🙂
Beautiful.
I love the comparison but I know what my answer would be….

Tillybud,
Glad you liked it. Thanks for stopping by again. 🙂
I’ll bet you really can. Your son will win every time. 🙂 Another thoughtful haiku.
Leslie,
🙂 True. He’d win every day except when he’s refusing to do his schoolwork. Yes, it’s one of those weekends. 😦
Oh, what a sweet haiku, comparing your son to cherry blossoms is so special, but I bet your smiling son is more beautiful.
Viola
Most days, they are. 🙂 Thank you for your comment and visit.
Not only are they beautiful in spring but just think of all the birds and bugs they would draw to your garden. I like this haiku but I know the answer…son’s smile…never forgotten.
Lisa
Lol. I hadn’t thought about that. Your right. Even a frustrating child is better than flowers.
Such choices! Both extremely joyful and gratifying.
Technobabe
I have to agree. I just wish I felt that way when boys aren’t doing they’re best in school. 😉
