Sunset and Snowfairies

shades of blushing sky
so brilliant;  stilled mirror pond
perfect reflection

whirling white twirling
madly between boughs and sky–
snow fairies wild dance

The sunset looks like a Rousseau painting.

Vic, Thank you for the compliment. The colors that evening were amazing. I was so glad to have captured a bit of such a splendid sunset. Thank you for coming by. You are welcome any time.

the photos and poetry twirl me along so softly…wonderful retreat here…

  4. Now this is art, you can write stories like it’s no body’s business, your poetry is perfect and your drawing is off the charts, now you can add photography to your perfect skills… These are to die for.

  5. trisha says:

the picture and the poetry both are heavenly

  6. flandrumhill says:

Both photos are spectacular. I can see those snow fairies dancing wildly.

    Hi Yousei;

My wife is Mexican, and she absolutely loves the snow in Canada, she’s anchored here 🙂

I suppose for those who never really experienced it growing up, it must seem amazing having their world turn white in a few hours. I used to take it for granted having known snow since I was young.

Your images are gorgeous. You have a wonderful eye and capture the beauty of what is and take the “for granted” part out of the equation.

    Thank You 🙂

I saw snow once when I was in third grade. All classes let out and I remember running outside to watch it fall. I never saw it again until I was in college. Thank you the compliments and for sharing with me.

  8. heartshapedlies says:

I adore your haikus! 🙂 And the second photo, ohmygod 😀 Amazing!

  9. catgirlslovehaiku says:

Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Love the haiku about the wild snow fairies.

  10. Carmen says:

Wow. That’s all I have to say.

  11. O I adore the richness of the colors of your ‘first/top’ photo. And the reflection–o yes–I dig reflections as one of my ‘vices’. Thank you for the lovely images and poems.

    • Yousei Hime says:

The colors were amazing. I was so happy to be able to “run” out and capture them. Reflections are fast becoming a favorite of mine. You’re so welcome. So glad you stopped by!

  12. blissbait says:

Good Lord Yousei! You really COULD be a professional photographer. These shots are AMAZING. My jaw dropped. And Your words are just as wonderful. Ahhhh. It’s good to be back! Thank You for the beauty! Cheers and Namaste. 🙂

  13. Amity Me says:

the picture that came with the haikus are as equally beautiful just like the message…:)

    good morning Yousei…:)

you must be a pro photographer!!!

  14. lesliepaints says:

Beautiful Haiku and photos, both. The snow falling across them is really quite cool!

    • Yousei Hime says:

Thanks! I liked them too. I tried hard to catch the flakes in the air, so to speak. My camera speed is limited. Either I haven’t figured it out (most likely) or it won’t ever go fast enough (less likely). After several shots, I got one I liked. Thanks for stopping by.

  15. Sandy says:

They are both very beautiful. I love the idea of snow fairies dancing.

    • Yousei Hime says:

So glad you came by. I’ve really enjoyed your poetry, and was hoping I could share mine with you. Glad you liked it! I love the snow fairies too. I have another photo on an earlier post (Reflection) that I like even better. Stop by and look at it when you have time! 😀

  16. mother sparrow says:

    Ah! very nice!

  17. Technobabe says:

“Snow fairies wild dance” is a wondrous description. Very nice.

  18. Julie says:

I love the poems and the pictures. The color in the sunset is fantastic. I am drawn to the water in that picture, too. I learned to appreciate and love snow when I lived up north, except when driving in it…haha! Beautiful work.

    • Yousei Hime says:

Julie, Thank you. The color was amazing. I too love the snow. Growing up in south Texas, I saw snow once, and it definitely did not stick around. Every winter, the early snows draw me to the windows. My favorites are those with the enormous flakes drifting gently to the ground.

If you leave tracks, I'll find you.
